Indias Voyage of Discovery is one of the rare itineraries unifying
the great cultural and tourist attractions of the country in a single
tour, thereby adding value to the holidays. On this voyage of discovery,
tourists get to see the exemplary Indian architecture of majestic
Mughal monuments in Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri; royal forts, palaces and
temples in Jaipur, Pushkar, Ranakpur and Udaipur. Towards south, tourists
can feel the metropolitan beat of Mumbai, absorptive character of Kochi;
timeless nature of backwaters stretch from Kumarakom to Alleppey in Gods
own country, Kerala. In the end, the tour takes through another iconic
state of India, renowned for its glorious temple architecture, Tamil Nadu
via Chennai, Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram.
Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
arrival in Delhi - India's bustling capital city, meet India Budget Tours
representative who will greeted you with traditional Indian welcome and
assist the transfers to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 02 : New and Old Delhi Sightseeing
After a leisurely morning, embark on a delightful tour of New Delhi.
Drive along Rajpath, the capital's broadest avenue to enjoy a view of
imperial styled Parliament House, the President's House and India Gate.
Located on Raisina Hill, this citys core was designed by Sir Edward
Lutyens to commemorate Delhi as the imperial capital. Continue exploring
Delhi via a visit to the Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar. After lunch,
continue the Old Delhi tour. Characterized by the majestic Mughal
fortress, narrow alley bazaars down the heritage lane, this part of Delhi
is known for splendid tourist attractions. Enjoy the heritage laden
landmarks here in the form of Red Fort, Raj Ghat - a memorial to Mahatma
Gandhi and the mile-long Chandni Chowk bazaar. Return to the hotel for
Day 03 : Agra
Morning drive to Agra (200 Kms / 4 hrs). Enroute stopover at Sikandra
where you will discover the tomb dedicated to Emperor Akbar. Upon arrival,
check in-to hotel. Enjoy the evening visit to the Taj Mahal, the
magnificent monument to love. Later, tour the exquisitely crafted 16th
century Agra Fort, which is another world heritage site in testimony of
Mughal architecture. Overnight in Agra.
Day 04 : Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur
Proceed in the morning towards the abandoned Mughal City of Fatehpur Sikri
(44 Kms / 1 hr). This is a masterpiece of Muslim and Hindu architecture,
intact in good condition. Continue overland journey to Jaipur (188 Kms / 3
hrs). This is the capital city of Rajasthan, branded as "pink city".
Upon arrival, check in-to hotel for overnight.
Day 05 : Amber Fort Excursion & Jaipur
After breakfast, begin a royal excursion towards Amber Fort. This is like
travelling back in time, that too in a royal style atop the elegant
elephants. The steep hillock fortress at Amber provides a magnificent
foundation to the Jaipur city tour. After this, continue the discovery of
Jaipur via a visit to Hawa Mahal or "Palace of Winds," City
Palace and the ancient observatory. Evening visit the colourful local
markets of this Rajasthani craft capital. Overnight at
Day 06 : Jaipur -
breakfast, continue the day via a visit to Pushkar (130 Kms / 2 hrs).
Enroute visit Dargah Sharif at Ajmer, one of the most sacred Islamic
pilgrimages in India. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. In the
afternoon, visit Pushkar Lake, the holy pond in the town and its
famous temples. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 : Pushkar - Ranakpur
Drive to Ranakpur (250 Kms / 6 hrs) this morning. Upon arrival,
transfer to Hotel. Ranakpur is known for its intricate marble Jain
Temples that are built at par with the famous Dilwara Temples.
Dominated by the great Adinath Temple, this is one of the five great
places of the Jain faith, Afternoon visit the famous 15th century
Ranakpur Jain Temples. The intricately carved white marble is so well
preserved. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08 : Ranakpur - Udaipur
In the morning, drive to Udaipur (90 Kms / 2 hrs). This city is
pictured for its love affair with luxury since its inception and is
known for its surreal palaces and lakes. Begin the luxurious affair
with Udaipur via City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari or Garden of Maids;
and Udaipur folk museum where you can see the string puppets
performance typical to this area. In afternoon visit Eklingji and
Nagda Temples, another set of elaborate temples near the city.
Overnight in Udaipur.
Day 09 : Udaipur - Mumbai (Bombay)
In the morning, drive towards Udaipur airport to board connecting
flight for Mumbai. Upon arrival in Mumbai, check into hotel. Begin
exploring Mumbai via a visit to the citys landmark archway "Gateway
of India", the Hanging Gardens and the Malabar Hill, the posh
lane of Mumbai. Visit the Prince of Wales Museum, Dhobi Ghat, Marine
Drive and the Gandhi Memorial Museum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 : Mumbai
(Bombay) - Cochin
In the morning, cruise across Mumbai harbour to the world heritage
site of Elephanta Island to see huge rock cut temple of Lord Shiva. In
the noon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cochin / Kochi in
the state of Kerala, known for its well-balanced ecosystem. Check into
hotel upon arrival for overnight.
Day 11 : Cochin
In the morning, begin a Kochi city tour via a visit to Dutch Palace,
Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, Bolghatty, Chinese Fishing Nets,
Santacruz Cathedral (Basilica) etc. In the evening watch Kathakali
dance performance. Overnight in Kochi.
Day 12 : Kumarakom
out Kochi for Kumarakom (65 Kms / 2 hrs) to experience the rich
culture and active lifestyle around the timeless backwater stretch.
These waterways are the lifeline for the hamlets in Kerala and provide
a great insight into the life of the Gods own country. The
network of Backwaters also offers splendid experience to the tourists
who are in search to unwind and relax in natural pleasures. Upon
arrival, check into the resort. In the afternoon visit Kumarakom Bird
Sanctuary. Overnight in Kumarakom.
Day 13 : Backwaters Cruise
Morning is free for leisure or you can explore the life in a hamlet
around backwater. Later board the houseboat from Kumarakom Jetty.
Enjoy boat ride through the Backwaters canals and lagoons snaking
their way through several tiny villages and tropical vegetation. These
backwaters bind the state together and are an integral element in
maintaining ecological balance of the region. Overnight on board.
Day 14 : Alleppey - Cochin Chennai (Madras)
Disembark at Alleppey and proceed to Cochin airport in time to
connect to your flight for Chennai (formerly known as Madras), the
fourth largest city in India. Upon arrival, meet India Budget Tour
representative who will assist your transfers to the hotel. Afternoon
is at leisure in Chennai.
Day 15 : Kanchipuram & Mahabalipuram Excursion
Begin an excursion to Kanchipuram (55 Kms / 1.5 hrs), one of the
seven sacred cities of India according the sacred Hindu texts. Here,
visit three of the best temples, Kailasanatha and Ekambareshwara
dedicated to Lord Shiva and Vaikuntaperumal dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Continue the excursion to the ancient Pallavan port of Mamallapuram.
This is a world heritage site featuring ancient megalithic stone bas
reliefs and carvings along the Bay of Bengal. The shore temple, the
only surviving temple here is a unique example of a temple built of in
the form of caves. Overnight in Chennai.
Day 16 :Chennai (Madras) Sightseeing - Depart Chennai
Begin the morning with Chennai city tour via a visit to Victoria Art
Gallery, Bronze Gallery and Chennai Museum. The Fort St. George, San
Thome Cathedral and Kapaleeswarar Temple complete the Chennai city
tour. Later, transfer to airport and board connecting flight for
Land Cost (on twin sharing basis - minimum 2
